Members of the SERL team were in Belambra Presqu’île de Giens, France in June for the European Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (eceee) Summer Study.

One of the key energy efficiency events in Europe, the biennial conference sees researchers gather from all over the world to discuss their research, make connections and find out what the future trends are in energy efficiency.

Senior Research Associate Dr Eoghan McKenna presented a paper entitled ‘Analysis of international residential solar PV self-consumption’ while Research Associate Dr Ellen Webborn and SERL Director Simon Elam presented ‘Utilising Smart Meter Data for Research and Innovation in the UK’ which summarises the work of SERL so far.

The team also ran an informal session entitled “Can smart meter data be a game-changer for research and Innovation?” which gathered the smart metering experiences of researchers from around the world including Brazil, Denmark, India, Japan, Netherlands, Norway and Portugal.

Attendance at the conference is part of SERL’s efforts to show the ground-breaking work being done in the UK on smart meter data, and to make connections with partners from different countries to share knowledge and expertise.
