The independent Review of Net Zero, led by the Rt Hon Chris Skidmore, has cited the work of SERL in its analysis of the government’s progress in delivering on national carbon reduction goals. Entitled ‘Mission Zero’, the report – released on 13th January 2023 – notes the historic opportunity offered by Net Zero for the UK to lead the world in developing a green economy.

The report is ‘perhaps the largest engagement on Net Zero’ holding over fifty roundtables and receiving over 1800 responses to its call for evidence.

SERL is referenced several times in the document, including a reproduction of a graph that shows energy demand peaking between 5:30 and 7:30pm in the UK, illustrating the need for more flexibility in the electricity system. The report also references SERL findings on Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs).
