The fourth edition of the SERL Observatory Dataset was released on 22nd April 2022. The new edition contains:

  • SERL Observatory smart meter and weather data to the end of 2021
  • Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) data for Scotland (previously only England and Wales EPC data was available)
  • CV19 survey responses from first lockdown in 2020 (approx. 1000 responses).

The SERL dataset includes daily and half-hourly domestic gas and electricity consumption data for over 13,000 households recruited between 2019 and 2021. The smart meter data is accompanied by 20 different weather variables; EPC data (where available) and demographic and building information on the households taken from the contextual survey participants were asked to complete when agreeing to take part in the project.

All SERL data is subject to strict data governance in line with the Smart Energy Code (SEC) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Participants give informed consent when joining the project and can withdraw at any time.
